This is part 8 of a series of sermons on Colossians which Jordan preached in 2015. In this series, Jordan teaches out of the book of Colossians and explains what God really expects from us as believers. Is his will heavy and burdensome? Must we work, effort and strive to earn his affection? Colossians answers these questions and points us to freedom, peace and victory that can be discovered in the finished work of Jesus Christ.
In part 8 Jordan talks about Jesus as the “image of the invisible God.” In Exodus 33:23 Moses asked to see God’s glory. In response God told him that he would show him “his back” but that he could not see his “face.” The revelation of the New Testament (2 Corinthians 4:6) is that Jesus has revealed to us what Moses was not permitted to see; the “face” of God. In Christ, we have the most perfect and complete display of the nature and character of God.
